I not only made pellets at Lakes Region Pellet, I helped build it. The pellets never were consistent. The owner who ran production kept trying different methods and materials and the pellets could change from ton to ton.Quality was an issue. They are now out of business.
Thanks for the plug jason. I would be more than happy to build a site for them. I have a bag of theirs here ready to burn. They have a website url on their bag that goes to a godaddy landing page. They do need help. www.lrpellets.com
Good Pellet. No problems, they should probably get a website so we can learn more about them. They should contact the person that did this one.
I just tried 5 bags of these pellets and found none of the problems mentioned by C&J.
The smell of the pellets are clean and fresh, non-stop feeding for the 5 bags, not trace of moisture, good heat production, clean and (as the author said) virtually no (minimal) ash. I'm ready to buy 5 ton, now.

This is our second season with our St Croix pellet stove. We have tried a few different brands and decided this year to buy 2 tons of Lakes Region Pellets because we received a discount. The pellets do produce low ash but large clinkers. We have had a pretty good amount of heat from them but it seems as though it depends on the bag. They definitely have too much moisture and do not slide down the hopper well. We constantly have to push them down manually and often wake up in the morning to find the stove has shut down because the pellets didn't slide down. So far this season we have had to remove the auger to unclog it three times due to the moisture in the pellets. We did not have this problem with the other brands we bought at Lowe's & Home Depot last year. Sorry, can't think of those brands off the top of my head right now. With all the trouble we've had we will not buy Lakes Region Pellets again.
